  • Tips for Use

    Tips to Use

    1. Replace the included starter battery before your first full session — it is only designed to last 30 minutes to an hour. Open the battery compartment on the back, slide it out using the tape, and insert a fresh 9V battery.
    2. Connect the lead wires firmly into the cable connector sockets on the top of the unit, then attach the electrode pads to the other end of each lead wire. Make sure no bare metal is showing at the connections.
    3. Clean and dry the skin where you plan to place the pads. Apply the self-adhesive electrode pads to the area of pain, leaving at least two to three finger-widths between pads. Common areas include the lower back, neck, shoulders, knees, and legs.
    4. Make sure the intensity dials are turned fully to zero before switching on, then turn the unit on by rotating the intensity knobs clockwise — starting gently. Slowly increase until you feel a mild tingling sensation. Stop before it becomes uncomfortable or causes muscle twitching.
    5. Press the MODE button to choose from five stimulation modes — Normal, Burst, Modulation, SD1, and SD2. If you're unsure which to use, start with Normal. Your physiotherapist can recommend the best mode for your condition.
    6. Use the SET button to adjust pulse width and pulse rate if needed. If you're new to TENS, leave these on the default settings to begin with.
    7. Each session runs for up to 30 minutes, after which the unit automatically powers down — a useful built-in safety feature. When finished, turn the intensity dials back to zero before removing the electrode pads.
    8. Once you find a pad placement and settings that work well for you, write them down for next time — consistent placement gives the most reliable results.
    9. Replace electrode pads when they start to lose their stickiness, as poor adhesion reduces effectiveness and can cause skin irritation.
